Is design thinking the same as STEAM?

No. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) is about subjects. Design thinking is a way of solving problems that can use any or all of those subjects. All our programs are STEAM, but the design thinking process is what makes them meaningful.

What's the difference between "design thinking" and just "problem solving"?

Design thinking is structured problem-solving. It puts empathy first — understanding the person with the problem before jumping to solutions. It emphasizes many ideas over one "right" answer. And it prioritizes testing with real people, not just imagining the answer.

Will my child learn to use 3D printers?

Yes — but that's not the point. They'll learn 3D printing as a tool for bringing ideas to life. If they understand the design thinking process, they can learn any tool. If they just learn the tool, they can only use that one tool.

How do I know if design thinking is working?
